Crabmeat Au Gratin


  • 6 Tbsp Butter or Margarine - Divided
  • 1 Cup Onion, Chopped
  • 1/2 Cup Green Onion, Chopped
  • 1/4 Cup Fresh Parsley, Chopped
  • 1/2 Tsp Garlic, Chopped
  • 1 Lb White Crabmeat
  • Salt to Taste
  • Louisiana Hot Sauce to Taste
  • 1 Cup Water, Stock or Milk
  • 1 Cup Cheddar Cheese, Grated
  • 1/2 Cup Mozzarella Cheese, Grated


  1. Preheat oven to 350 deg.
  2. Melt 4 tbsp butter in a med. saucepan and saute onions, green onions and parsley until onions are clear
  3. Stir in garlic, crabmeat, salt and hot sauce, reduce heat to low and continue cooling
  4. In a separate pan melt 2 tbsp butter and add flour and cook until light brown, stirring constantly
  5. Add liquid (Water, milk or stock) and cook until thickened, stir-ring constantly
  6. Add cheddar cheese and cook until cheese is melted
  7. Combine with the crab mixture in a greased casserole dish and top with mozzarella cheese
  8. Bake for 20 - 30 min. or until cheese on top is melted and slightly browned
